Southern Illinois University (SIUC) is in the process of transitioning from using the Social Security Number (SSN) as the Student ID to a random ID number known as the DAWG Tag (that will begin with ‘85’). This change is critical in the continuing efforts to reduce the risk of identity theft of our students, faculty and staff. Beginning June 1, 2008, all current SIUC Identification Cards must be replaced with a new ID card that will have the ‘85’ DAWG tag number printed on the front. If you have an ID card that begins with ‘85’, you will not need to replace it. Students and staff who need a new card may stop by the ID Card Office at any time after June 1, 2008 to get their new ID cards. Questions? Call 618.536.3351.
You can also visit the DAWG Tag Conversion web page to get more information about the implementation of this transition.
