Wood Shop Overview

Hours of Operation:

  • Monday-Thursday 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm
  • Friday 11:00 am – 4:00 pm
  • Saturday 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

The wood shop is your all-things-wooden project headquarters. Want to make a new book shelf for your dorm room? Build a spice rack for your parents? All you have to do is sign up for a one-week, month, semester, or year-long pass to the wood shop, take a small proficiency test, sign the waiver, and start creating! Our staff can help you with your project as you go or you can browse through our huge selection of project magazines. We carry on-hand a huge selection of medium and hard woods, even some exotic woods.

The Wood Shop features:

  • Table saw
  • Radial arm saw
  • Jointer
  • Drill press
  • Two planers
  • Three belt sanders, and many handheld sanders
  • Scroll saw
  • Wood lathe
  • Router
  • Five band saws
  • Just about any hand tool you would need

Group Activities Overview

The Craft Shop employs a handful of exceptional and knowledgeable students for our wood shop staff. In addition, Ron and David can help you with your next project, teach you how to use tools and equipment, and guide you when selecting the right wood for the job.

David GladishDavid Gladish, Craft Shop Assistant Supervisor

David is the assistant to our Coordinator, Ron Dunkel and the Frame Shop Specialist. He is a full-time staff member with a B.A. in Art History, a B.F.A. in painting, and six years of professional framing experience. He teaches several matting and framing courses at the Craft Shop, and is available at request for private lessons @ $12.00 per half hour.
