Saluki Family Weekend - Friday, October 23, 2009

You and your family are invited to Saluki Family Weekend at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, October 23, 24 & 25, 2009. The weekend features many traditional events as well as new ones designed to provide you and your family a fun-filled weekend. The students, faculty and staff at SIUC have spent many hours planning events to ensure you have a wonderful time in Carbondale and develop memories that will last a lifetime. SCHEDULE

Student Recreation Center

5:30 am - 10:00 pm, Student Recreation Center
Family members of students are invited to tour and use the Student Recreation Center facilities for FREE.  Please visit the Welcome Desk located on the lower level for details. Please be sure to bring a photo ID to the Student Recreation Center.

University Bookstore Hours

8:00 am - 6:00 pm, First Floor, Student Center
Look for great deals and a large selection of SIUC merchandise and apparel at the University's convenient bookstore.

Student Center Bowling and Billiards

9:00 am – 12:00 midnight, First Floor, Student Center
SIUC students and your family can enjoy student rate price bowling and billiards all day, all weekend. A current SIUC student with ID must accompany family members.

Family Weekend Craft Sale

10:00 am - 5:00 pm, First Floor, Student Center
Regional vendors will be available for you to enjoy early holiday shopping or look for that unique souvenir. Choose from handmade candles, ceramics, photographs and other crafts. Sponsored by the Student Center Craft Shop.

Boat Dock on Campus Lake

12:00 noon - 6:00 pm Campus Lake
Visit Campus Lake and take advantage of FREE boat rentals including: paddle boats, canoes and rowboats (weather permitting). Please be sure to bring a photo ID to the Campus Lake Boat Docks.

Radiologic Sciences Program Open House

4:00 - 6:00 p.m., College of Applied Sciences and Arts
Guests will meet in Room 14 and will be able to view the new radiology
equipment and  recently renovated rooms.  Program faculty and students will
conduct tours and Light refreshments will be served. Sponsored by the
Radiologic Sciences Program.

NCAAW Trivia Night

6:00 p.m., Lower Level, Grinnell Hall
Students, family and friends will compete in this National Collegiate
Alcohol Awareness Week trivia competition with raffle prizes for students
and a $500 grand prize to the charity of the winner's choice. Sponsored by
University Housing.

Women's Volleybal

7:00 p.m., Davies Gym
The Salukis battle Bradley University in exciting Missouri Valley Conference
volleyball action.  Tickets are available at the door. Admission is free for
SIUC students, $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for faculty/staff/youth/senior
citizens or $1.00 per person for groups of 20 or more. Sponsored by Saluki
Athletics.

SPC Film: "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince "

7:00 pm & 10:00 pm, Student Center Auditorium
Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson reprise their roles as young wizards Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, who are facing new challenges and dangers following Lord Voldemort's return. Tickets are $2.00 for SIUC students/children 10 and under, $3.00 for the general public at the door. Sponsored by the Student Programming Council Films Committee.
